As part of the M54 Junction 4 scheme at Telford, Fitzgerald carried out cost compilation and bill of quantities in-house, we have a team of 5 directly employed Estimators and Programmers who possess extensive site knowledge and a combined experience of 100 years+. Cost benefits included:
- During construction, the team utilised existing ducting / feeder pillars for traffic signals which brought time and cost savings. We tied into existing barriers and with the vehicle restraint system we reduced the number of sections to be worked on.
- We increased safe working zones by using 2 lanes for our works areas and one in off-peak working. Planing material was recycled for future bituminous materials at Leaton Quarry. From the 15,000 sq m. of resurfacing completed, 3,000 tonnes of material was recycled.
- We also reviewed the volume and locations of the cores necessary based on the drawings, recommending that a number of cores were not required, whilst identifying other areas that would benefit from cores being taken to provide a long-term surfacing strategy to the client.
