Improving Journeys, Supporting Communities: Bus Priority Scheme Delivered in Washwood Heath

We’re proud to have successfully delivered a bus priority scheme on the busy B4114 corridor between Membury Road and Drews Lane, a project that’s making a difference for residents and commuters alike.

By strategically reconfiguring road space, we’ve significantly improved bus journey times and boosted service reliability, helping the community enjoy smoother, more dependable travel every day.

– Our work included:
– Footway works for the relocation of uncontrolled pedestrian crossing points
– Relocation of a zebra crossing
– Resurfacing, including high friction surfacing
– Road markings
– Installation of traffic signs
– Provision of bus shelter amendments

Through close collaboration with Transport for West Midlands, Birmingham City Council, and utility providers, we developed a phased Traffic Management Plan that allowed us to work day and night, delivering on time and adhering to our ‘right first time’ approach.

Stuart Amphlet from Transport for West Midlands said, “This complex scheme was meticulously planned throughout, ensuring works were delivered to programme with the minimum of disruption to the travelling public.”

We are privileged to be helping improve transport efficiency and reliability for thousands of daily commuters.
