Project Spotlight: The Asps, Warwickshire

We’re proud to share the successful installation of SmartRaft® Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) barriers at The Asps scheme in Warwickshire. This innovative solution is transforming how safety infrastructure is delivered across the UK.

SmartRaft® brings a modular, off-site prefabricated concrete foundation that enables:

• Faster installation – up to 600m of VRS per shift, reducing programme time and traffic management needs.
• Safer delivery – installed at just 200mm depth, it can be placed safely over or near underground services without compromising access.
• Cost certainty – no pre-site ground testing required thanks to proven off-site destructive load tests.
• Compatibility – works seamlessly with leading VRS systems including Hill & Smith and Saferoad.

At The Asps, this approach has ensured efficient delivery, enhanced road safety, and minimal disruption to the local community. It’s a great example of how collaboration between contractors, councils, and technology providers can deliver smarter infrastructure.
