Project Update: Rugeley Power Station Redevelopment

Client: ENGIE | Scheme Value: £6.5m | Completion Due: Autumn 2025

We are proud to be on site at the former Rugeley Power Station, supporting the transformation of this historic site into a low-carbon, mixed-use community. Once a coal-fired power station, the area will soon be home to:
– 2,300 new homes
– A new low-carbon school
– Employment space
– A new country park

Our current works involve delivering the infrastructure for the access road to the school, which is also under construction. This includes:
– Extensive drainage works
– Three pumping stations
– Attenuation and storage tanks
– Balancing ponds

We’re also managing major statutory diversions to support the wider decommissioning of the power station. This includes innovative solutions developed alongside NGET/NGED to work safely around high-voltage cables that must remain live throughout.

Our scope also covers coordinating and installing new utility ducting and pipework, all while maintaining site access for other contractors working on the school and remediation.

Through every challenge, our team has delivered with expertise, adaptability, and a proactive approach, ensuring progress continued safely and efficiently, so that the school remains on track to open this September.

Proud to be playing our part in building a sustainable future at Rugeley
