Orchard Place Evesham Housing Infrastructure
The company was awarded a £4 million contract as part of a joint venture by Bellway and Bloor Homes which involved a combined Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 scheme for a new housing development at Evesham. The challenging scheme presented a number of key challenges in terms of planning due to the necessity to construct the project in a different sequence to how it would traditionally be constructed, which involved carrying out works from within the development and working back to the main developments access. Our team aligned the construction programme with that of the house builders programme in order to deliver the contract as per the client’s requirements. The Fitzgerald team’s flexible approach to working collaboratively and incorporating the client’s project requirements was critical to the continued progress of the wider development.
The scope of works included:
· Topsoil strip along with a cut and fill earthworks operation to the whole of the development. This included formation of the plateaus for each area of housing plots
· Excavation of road box and creation of a main haul road
· Installation of new foul and storm water drainage systems
· Placement of road stone and formation of permanent kerbing with a temporary concrete block kerb
· Installation of duct crossings for all new services
· Excavation of trenches along with installation of ducts for all service diversions as well as new supplies within footways
· Surfacing up to binder course
· Construction of two precast and insitu concrete attenuation tanks, designed to hold 3,500 m3 to meet a 1:100 year event
· Formation and construction of Section 278 footways
· Complete surfacing to the whole Section 278 area
