Successful Completion of Highway Safety Improvement Scheme at Key Birmingham Arterial Route

Fitzgerald completed a vital infrastructure contract on behalf of our long-standing client Birmingham City Council which aims to improve the overall safety and efficiency of the A38 / A441 junction of Pershore Road, Priory Road and Edgbaston Road.

The company were appointed as principal contractor for the 33-week scheme which was delivered under the Black Country Minor Civil Engineering Works Framework Lot 3. More info on the scope of works can be found here.  The project was undertaken in a highly trafficked live environment and located at one of the largest uncontrolled junctions in Birmingham. Key challenges and detailed planning by our in-house team combined with extensive liaison and coordination of works with numerous stakeholders underpinned project success.

Social value was an integral part of the scheme’s delivery (read more here) and Fitzgerald also gained recognition for our ongoing commitment to attaining exemplary health and safety standards on this scheme by winning a Merit grade in the 2022 British Safety Council International Safety Awards.
