Transforming Worcester Cathedral College Yard
We’re delighted to have delivered the newly revitalised College Yard at Worcester Cathedral, a high-quality public realm scheme in one of the most historically and spiritually significant locations in the region.
With its rich archaeological significance, the site brought a rewarding level of complexity that made this project truly special. Working closely with the fantastic team at Worcester Cathedral, over 100 days of archaeological excavation were completed without impacting the programme, a true testament to collaboration and careful planning.
The nature of the site meant that works were visible to the public throughout, creating a real buzz of anticipation. Now that it’s complete, we’ve received incredible feedback, and we’re proud to have helped create a space that is already becoming a cherished part of the community.
Project Highlights:
– 60 linear metres of Victorian brick storm water culvert repaired and lined
– 7,200 Basalt setts installed
– 20,000 historic river cobbles reinstalled
– 100 days of archaeology integrated into the programme
As Worcester Cathedral shared in their recent post, the new space features a central footpath that strengthens the connection between the city and the Cathedral, offering a place to pause, reflect, and connect. The welcoming design, enhanced with greenery and historic materials, reflects the Cathedral’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible spaces for all.
We’re incredibly proud to have contributed to this special project in such a storied and sacred setting.
