A45 Cycle Route Works Completion

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of our A45 Cycle Route Works for Birmingham City Council.

The scheme has seen the provision of a permanent segregated cycle route between Birmingham City Centre and Yardley, making permanent the temporary cycle measures installed in 2020. A new signalised junction has also been created at the junction of Bolton Road with Small Heath Bridge and Jenkins Street.

The time-sensitive, 14-week contract was delivered on time, on budget and with no incidents or impacts.

We developed and implemented robust traffic management plans to minimise disruption to residential and commuter traffic on the busy A45 and at Bordesley Junction and surrounding local roads.

Our team carried out excavations at both day and night, successfully installing new infrastructure without any incidents despite coming across several unchartered utilities.

The scheme was also built on a limited footprint with minimal storage space, requiring proactive and careful coordination of work gangs. Our team was commended by Birmingham City Council for their “splendid work” over the 14-week period, recognising the challenging urban environment in which the scheme was delivered. Massive thanks and congratulations to all our team!
