Contract award win to construct state-of-the-art cycling facility in Worcestershire
The company have been appointed by Wychavon District Council to deliver a multi-disciplined civil engineering scheme to construct a new state-of-the-art cycling facility in Evesham, Worcestershire.
The £1.5m scheme commences in May and will be undertaken over a 20-week period, works include the creation of a closed road circuit (6534m²), pump track (1460m²), learn to ride circuit (589m²), all ability cycle route (1202m²) and a cycle cross route (230m total length). The scheme will require the reconfiguration of existing football pitches with elements of the new cycling facility being incorporated in and around the existing stadium and 3G sports pitch, and the facility will be fully lighted to ensure all round use during winter months.
Ancillary works include an extension to the existing car park provision on site, a raised timber deck and a link footpath together with complementary landscaping and fencing. Key challenges include working in a live environment adjacent to Evesham United FC, a 3G sports pitch and various green spaces used by the public. Fitzgerald’s in-house team have reviewed alternative access point for site deliveries and access, and to successfully deliver the scheme we will ensure close coordination of works with all parties through our comprehensive Stakeholder Management Plan.
Upon completion the project will result in a flagship facility and the first of its kind in the region.
