Fitzgerald Win Exciting New Leamington Highways Scheme

Fitzgerald Contractors have been appointed to construct an exciting new Section 278 highways scheme in Leamington as part of our current Engineering & Construction Works Framework for Warwickshire County Council.

The £2.6m contract which will be delivered on behalf of Gallagher Estates Ltd is the largest scheme to date that Warwickshire County Council has awarded to Fitzgerald. It forms part of the Europa Way Improvement Programme and will create a new signalised junction on the existing A452 Europa Way, opening up land for a residential development.

The scope of works includes the installation of drainage, new balancing ponds, construction of headwalls, culvert extension and bulk earthworks. Management of the statutory undertakers is the most critical element to the successful completion of this project to programme and budget. The project also requires the provision of surfacing, traffic signals, fencing, signage and lighting. Construction work is programmed to commence in July with completion expected by summer 2019.

Fitzgerald Managing Director Nick Coley commented: ‘‘This is another exciting project procured through our construction framework delivering benefit back to the residents and visitors of Warwickshire. We understand the need to not only deliver a great scheme for our client, on budget and on programme, but to look at how we can provide extra value and Fitzgerald will do that through training and local employment opportunities.’’

Fitzgerald were appointed to Warwickshire County Council’s Engineering & Construction Works Framework in 2014, enabling the efficient procurement of public sector infrastructure works across the region. Over the 4 year framework period Fitzgerald have completed 6 highway improvement schemes of a similar nature to the A452 Europa Way S278 works scheme, collectively valued at over £4m.
