Infrastructure Scheme Contract Award at SmartParc Spondon
Fitzgerald Contractors have been awarded a significant £2m highway infrastructure scheme from new client TSL Ltd at SmartParc Spondon, a manufacturing and distribution Campus in Derbyshire. Site works will take place at two separate locations half a mile apart with the Raynesway junction being widened to increase network capacity to the existing dual carriageway on the approach to our main contract works at the campus’ northern access.
Our scope of work for the 22-week scheme at the northern access involves the realignment of the existing highway with enabling earthworks required for the construction of a new retaining wall commencing prior to the start of major statutory utilities diversions.
The scheme includes the construction of a precast retaining wall, installation of drainage and a storm water attenuation tank along with provision of kerbing, traffic signs and street lighting, road marking and fencing. Our in-house planning team have extensively reviewed traffic management requirements which has subsequently been simplified and phased to maintain vehicular access with a road closure incorporated to accelerate our construction programme.
