Project win!
We are delighted to have secured a new award at College Yard, Worcester Cathedral. The £850,000 public realm scheme will see significant enhancements to the College Yard at the Cathedral entrance. Given the extensive archaeology on the site, all works will be undertaken with a watching archaeological brief and will utilise innovative ‘no dig’ methods of construction.
Works will include new pathways across College Yard from the High Street, the resurfacing of the arrival area at the Northern entrance in natural stone to provide a level access route for pedestrians, the installation of vehicle control bollards and the resurfacing of the College yard carriageway in a coloured finish.
Fitzgerald’s Operations Director, Alex Fish, said: “This high-profile scheme within the Cathedral grounds will create a fitting new entrance to the Cathedral. The materials selected are entirely in keeping with the historical site and will create a lasting legacy. The scheme has many complexities, not least its delivery in a live environment. We’ve worked closely with the Cathedral to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum and we look forward to delivering what will be an outstanding, interesting, and rewarding project.”
