Coleshill Infrastructure Works

Fitzgerald have successfully completed the design and construction of a new 1.2km access road and associated infrastructure at Coleshill. The new access road, built for IM Properties (one of the UK’s largest privately-owned investor developers), creates entrances for two new tourist attractions – an inland surf lagoon and a development which will become a 51m high Christian monument named ‘The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer’.

 Following a 6-week design development stage with Stantec, works commenced on-site in July 2022 and finished in February 2023. Our scope of works comprised of site clearance and earthworks to reprofile the site, the design, build and surfacing of the access road, utility works for future use, the provision of drainage, and finishing and landscaping.

The works were completed with an excellent safety record and with no impact on project stakeholders, including the nearby Coleshill Manor Hotel. We worked closely with Fisher German to ensure no impact on a live underground ESSO fuel pipe running under the route of the road. Temporary haul roads were installed to ensure no site traffic excavated or tracked over the fuel line and a Severn Trent Water sewer culvert, with protection slabs put in place for both structures before construction of the road.

All excavated materials were either re-used used on site or retained on site for use by future developers of the surf lagoon and Christian Monument. This reduced cost, carbon and air quality impacts from reduced waste disposal and associated vehicle movements.

We worked collaboratively and helpfully with promoters of the Christian Monument that the new road will facilitate access to, providing access to site and information about our scheme to help develop promotional videos for the Monument.
