Evesham Cycling Facility

Evesham Cycling Facility

Fitzgerald were appointed by Wychavon District Council to deliver a range of civil engineering works to construct a new cycling facility that will result in a reconfiguration of the training pitches with some elements of the facility fitting in and around the existing main stadium and 3G pitch.

The 22-week scheme involves the creation of  a closed road circuit (6534m²), pump track (1460m²), learn to ride circuit (589m²), all ability cycle route (1202m²) and a cycle cross route (230m).

Ancillary work include an extension to existing car park provision on site, a raised timber deck and a link footpath together with complementary landscaping and fencing proposals.  Upon completion the project will result in a flagship facility, the first of its kind in the region and a significant contribution towards the cost is being provided by Sport England.

Key challenges include working adjacent to Evesham United FC, a 3G sports pitch and various football pitches used by the public. We have reviewed potential alternative access point for site deliveries and access and in order to successfully deliver the scheme we will ensure close coordination of works with Evesham United Football Club and adjacent multi-use games area operators.

As part of our pre-construction planning we have signed up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme and in line with best practice have established a series of measures to mitigate noise, dust and vibration. A key issue identified is concerns around potential unauthorised access to our works area, and we have erected secure fencing and strictly controlled access / egress points.
