Site team lend a hand to ‘Let’s Go Quackers’ charity project
Fitzgerald Contractors have recently supported the ‘Let’s Go Quackers’ charitable project by constructing concrete bases as part of an exciting new Art Trail visitor attraction at Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire.
Our site team became involved to help create a new family walking trail and have now completed civil engineering works at various landmarks along 2.5 miles of The Gorge. The new concrete bases will be used to display ten giant fibreglass ducks, each standing at 9ft high. They have been lovingly hand painted and will help to brighten up the town and bring a smile to the faces of both locals and visitors.
The ‘Let’s Go Quackers’ project forms part of Telford Town’s 50th birthday celebrations with the novel idea created by local resident Julie Ward, who was inspired by a gorilla trail created in Norwich. At the end of the project the ducks will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Severn Hospice and the Jayne Sargent Foundation, and to date the ducks have raised £7,680 through sponsorship.
Nick Coley, MD, Fitzgerald Contractors commented: ‘Our project teams have been working in the Telford region as part of our Minor Works Framework, and as a result we saw an opportunity to get involved and contribute to this fantastic charity project. We’ve enjoyed being a part of something that brings the community together to support their local town and enjoy a fun day out.’
The ducks will be on display in Ironbridge from 5-8th July, and will later move to the centre of Telford from 14th July, allowing more people to admire them as they go about their business at Southwater.
