Successful Trialling of Zero Emissions Equipment
Fitzgerald Contractors have successfully trialled a 12” battery powered disc cutter with the Husqvarna K1 Pace bringing the same performance as equivalent petrol fuel. The disc cutter was deployed to our Pershore Road site where the site team undertook infrastructure works to improve the overall safety and efficiency of the A38 / A441 junction of Pershore Road, Priory Road and Edgbaston Road in Birmingham.
Key features of the battery powered disc cutter includes:
- Battery will provide 4-6 hours of power although this varied depending on application and trigger time)
- Less vibrations and smoother cutting, the disc cutter also has Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) Bluetooth monitoring, a very beneficial feature to keep our site operatives safe from harm
- Zero direct emissions and subsequently negates any cost on purchasing fuel
- Asset Tracking – is traceable vie a Husqvarna app if it is lost or stolen
Feedback from the Fitzgerald site team has been really positive as it has brought multiple benefits. As part of our carbon reduction plan and net Zero roadmap Fitzgerald will continue to work with our plant and equipment suppliers to source and trial new equipment to make our sites safer, more sustainable and more productive.
