Treecycling campaign raises £84,000 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice

Fitzgerald employees once again teamed up with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice on Saturday 11th January to volunteer as drivers, tree collectors and navigators for the Christmas Treecycling campaign.

Fitzgerald company vans were out in force across Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull to help to collect a whopping 4,500 used Christmas trees from local residents, schools and businesses in return for a donation to the charity.

The trees will be recycled into compost and biomass fuel, making it a really simple and environmentally-friendly way of disposing of the festive firs. This year’s campaign has so far raised a fantastic £84,000 which enables the charity to continue providing care and support for local families living with life-limiting illness.

Fitzgerald Managing Director Nick Coley said: ‘This is the 7th year in a row that the company have supported the Treecycling campaign which raises funds for such a worthy charity. The efforts of our employees and supply chain partners are key to the success of the scheme, the weekend is a real team effort, and the support is really appreciated.’

Treecycling is the latest in a number of charitable initiatives that the company has become involved in since we partnered with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, and to date Fitzgerald’s involvement has helped to raise over £300,000.
